During a career in sales, Garry was led to a job in the oil exploration phase off of Nova Scotia and Sable Island. Garry's work in the offshore sector included a schedule with four days off for every four days worked. With so much time off, this allowed him to moonlight as a cab driver and a blackjack dealer at Casino Nova Scotia. Eventually Garry worked at the blackjack table full time. He did not give up the taxi license and that was a fortuitous thing. The good fortune was that the taxi license was a way to become involved with the lucrative Cruise ship tour business that had arrived here in the late ’90s. It was through that business that Garry found a way to cash in on years of education in history. Garry had always been interested in this subject and did well with it academically. There was a time in university that teaching the subject was an option to consider. That was never a true ambition of Garry's and history fell by the wayside. The tour business rekindled his interest and, much to his surprise, the history of this area was of great interest to those visiting here. "These 20 years of providing tours have been rewarding in two ways. First, no job I have had has been as financially rewarding as the tour business. Secondly, no job I have had ever included the verbal and written variations of thank you that have come my way simply for doing a job I enjoy." The tour business eventually led Garry to the people at other organizations.However, it soon became clear that these other organizations had no intention to become a larger presence in the industry. So Garry began to plan his own enterprise. Garry lives with my wife in Halifax Nova Scotia and is a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren.
